Pre-adoptive stage

Prospective parents get scared/wary of the procedures involved in adoption. Why?
Any activity has a process methodology. Presently due to lack of awareness some procedures are complicated. These are not problems, just hurdles which can be easily overcome.

We wanted to adopt because we thought we can 'choose' a chubby child from the child care institution.
Prospective parents have to be realistic in their expectations. Due to lack of mother's milk the child may not be as healthy as you perhaps desire. After all, the child is coming to you only because it requires more attention.

Our neighbours are quite elderly couples and they want only an infant. Why not?
It is a general perception that the earlier the child comes into the family, the faster the child adapts itself. However handling infants need extra care which are easy for younger couples to manage. Older couples should consider older children adoptions in the interest of the child & themselves.
